Scientists from the Global Change Institute at The University of Queensland have been using the Curasub to conduct surveys and experimental work at lower mesophotic depths (60-100 m) around Curacao. Using a molecular approach, they have identified that these lower mesophotic depths actually harbor a unique community of deep-water corals, that cannot be found at shallow depths.

Submersible: A team of marine biologists from The University of Queensland has discovered a specialised community of deep-water corals in Curaçao, an island in the Dutch Caribbean.
